Genesis 1-3 and the Fall of MankindPeople have many differing opinions on Genesis 1-3. Some people believe that God did not want Adam and Eve to have the knowledge of good and evil because that would make them gods. The purpose of this essay is to show that Adam and Eve caused the fall of humanity. Now, to the untrained eye, it may be possible to interpret the aforementioned text as having certain "scheisty" tendencies coming from both the serpent and, believe it or not, God himself. As possible as it may seem, the main theme of the Genesis passages is not to try to show God as being stingy with knowledge of good and evil. It's not as if God feared that Adam and Eve would gain knowledge that would give them power and make them gods. It's almost absurd to think that God, the almighty creator of heaven and earth, would be concerned about two mortals obtaining a little bit of information. In reality, this idea is incredibly far from the truth. God literally gave the world to Adam and Eve. This perfect world, a “paradise on earth,” was offered to them by the goodness of his heart. All they had to do was gaze at God's creations and enjoy true eternal happiness. In fact, the only rule God gave Adam and Eve was not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Acknowledge the fact that the serpent (aka Satan Incarnate) played its part in persuading Eve to eat the fruit and give it to her husband. However, Eve should have realized that she was risking eternal happiness for the words of a serpent. God said: "...of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat; for in the day when you are most pure, you will surely not die. He was not talking about a death instantaneous, nor even mortal death He said rather that they would lose their immortal life, and thus be compromised by mortal death. The serpent knew this and used his knowledge to bring about the inevitable demise of humanity...
