how does conflict lead to change? Conflict in Dogs I Could Teach Me begins when Gary realizes that his dogs were very intelligent. He used to trap animals when he was young, but the incident where one of his dogs, Columbia, meticulously arranges a scenario to tease Olaf, a silly dog, changed him. thus, via his internal conflict, his struggle to trap and kill animals that might be as intelligent as Columbia, forever changed his perspective on animals. he vowed never to intentionally harm any animal again. The American Revolution is also another example where conflict leads to change. another example is when American settlers invaded Indian lands. The war between France and India is also another example where conflict leads to change. conflicts can therefore cause change in society, but its impact is ultimately decided by humans and the nature of the region. Gary's dogs were very intelligent as one of his dogs planned and carried out a clever plan in order to tease a known stupid bully. this act caused Gary to rethink his perspective on the nature of animals; whether they were smart or stupid. his dogs demonstrated another intelligent act when he fell and was seriously injured and against all odds, they came back to him. his dogs were also very intelligent in knowing where Gary was when he fell. Additionally, one of his dogs instinctively recognized his wound and started licking it to stop the bleeding. When the dogs came to save him, he thought that somewhere they had great knowledge and perhaps knew, almost motherly, where he was and basically took care of him. so overall the dogs had vast knowledge and love in a motherly way, sometimes very different from our society. so maybe dogs might have something to teach us. The American Revolution is an almost model example of how conflict leads to change. conflict arises from 2 or more incompatible societies and when they oppose each other, friction arises, which is conflict. the American conflict arose when the British adopted unjust rules against the colonies; the two incompatible societies. this in turn led to various rebellions across the colonies united by a single goal. expel Britain from this territory once and for all. after all, the colonies mended themselves and came up with a constitution to unite them. this in turn transformed 13 separate colonies into a single country.
