  • Essay / Two Great Pieces Are Alike - 752

Often when artists post a stack of stories, songs, films, or plays, you can usually see similarities in their work. Even if you can't see it in all of their work, you can almost always find a little something here or there that reminds you of their other work. Taylor Swift is a perfect example, she has different songs with different topics but you can see a lot of similarities in her work. Another artist who does this is the famous Shakespeare. In his two plays The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream, I noticed certain similarities. Even if the acts are similar enough to be compared. In the first act of both plays a specific problem is already defined, in the second act the lovers both make romantic gestures and in the third act both men leave their ladies. In the first acts of these two plays, they already have a specific problem. The problem has formed. In Romeo and Juliet, the problem shown at the very beginning of the play is the obvious family that exists between the Capulets and the Montagues. When you begin to watch this play, you are greeted with mockery and bickering between the two families and Abram says, "Are you biting our thumb, sir?" act 1 scene 1, line 43, which shows the need they feel to show off their manhood. It feels like this has happened many times before because of what the prince said, but it's an obvious problem for Romeo and Juliet at the very beginning of Romeo and Juliet. Then the problem in the first act of A Midsummer Night's Dream is that Hermia is already arranged to marry Demetrius. This is an obvious problem for her and Lysander because they are in love and want to get married but it is also a problem because her friend Helena is also in love with Deme...... middle of paper ...... i go. So because Lysander “loves” Helena, he leaves Hermia in the night to follow Helena. Obviously, both men leave their ladies, their loves, in one way or another against their will and in another way totally by choice. Comparing The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream, I found that the acts had many similarities like in the first act. there is a definite problem at the very beginning, in the second act they both make romantic gestures, and in the third act the men leave their love. In the first acts of these two plays, a specific problem is already forming. Then, in both acts of the second act, the two lovers make a romantic gesture. Finally, in the two third acts of the play, the two men leave their ladies. Clearly, there are similarities between Shakespeare's two great love plays.Works CitedThe Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream
