As Bremner (2008) states, grouping of children is used in schools, which can lead to disruptive behavior and a decline in self-esteem, stigmatizing the lower classes. I agree, I suppose grouping children with additional needs into one, providing the class with an opportunity to bully, demoralize and lack social interaction with peers. As observed, children with low abilities are often assigned to a teaching assistant (TA) to meet their educational needs. Additionally, they do not receive additional lesson plans, revision or progression plans. Ultimately, a child's lack of educational attainment, despite additional support, has a significant impact on their moral and emotional development, apart from their career and growth prospects. Nevertheless, Moyles, J. et al (2002) stated that poor results may be due to a variety of reasons such as ethnicity, bullying or social inequality (p. 253). Perhaps this is due to the growing demand for larger classes; teachers are unable to meet a child's individual needs. However, Stronge et al (2004) stated that an effective teacher has a psychological influence on children, the stronger the teacher, the greater the achievement (cited Rubio, MC 2009, online). Teachers should encourage students to become independent and effective learners.
