    Without education, Americans are unable to fully thrive and compete in competitive career paths, which is the same in any country. In order to grow and develop, an individual needs the education and knowledge of the area of ​​expertise they wish to achieve. However, in poorer countries, the availability and opportunities to pursue education are much more limited than in the United States. In fact, these low levels of education have contributed to the problem of child labor, a growing epidemic in Honduras. Due to “rapid population growth and limited school budgets […], the school day in Honduras was reduced to half a day” (Groves 172). This reduction in numbers allowed the children to work the rest of the day. However, once they start working, most tend to leave school, feeling that it is not worth investing in their education, since working alone provides them with the valuable skills needed (Groves 172). This perception has led “between 69 and 75 percent of children working in construction, agriculture, and the service sector” to no longer attend school (Groves 172). However, this perception is far from the truth. Blue collar workers
