  • Essay / Alexis Alexander - 1069

This Brave New World story was like nothing I had ever read before, very unusual and different, like children born to hate and love certain things. Starting to read this book was very silly. My whole outlook on this book changed. I didn't think it would happen like this. This story was very different from any book I have read. In a way, we can compare some of the things read in this novel to some things that happen in today's life. At the beginning of this world, children are born without others giving birth to them, the eggs are instead fertilized, then undergo a Bokanovsky, the children are essentially cloned. During the process of their birth, they are made to hate and love things without question while living in a dictatorship. I feel like it's not fair that they can't grow up liking and not liking what they want, but that they have to be told it somehow other. To me they take away people's freedom, they can't think or really do anything for themselves. The society, the way of life in this book is crazy. We have begun to uncover another piece of the puzzle (pattern) of this society/ The world is addicted to a drug known as soma. Soma helps people when they are upset and feeling anything but happy. In the minds of the creators, it's a happy place, a place where everyone should always be happy and/or excited, but are the people in society really happy? They don't live a normal life like others, they are controlled. Some of them really don't like using soma like in the book where Lenina told Bernard to take soma and he didn't want to because he didn't like the way the drug made him feel he liked the normal feeling. Another thing in this book was the sexual activity, how everyone... middle of paper... is as powerful as you can think and she can ruin a world just as well as she can fix it. new people don't really live the life they want to live there, afraid to be themselves. They have so many emotions stored up inside them that they cannot express them. This was a very big problem in this novel, emotions should not create, everyone deserves their own way of life, they deserve to live the way they want. Is this the kind of world people want to live in? People take drugs to stay happy. As Bernard was tired of taking soma and being happy, as he said he no longer took it, it's a crazy world. This novel, in a way, might teach you why you should do your own thing and be yourself because you don't go there. like to be dictated to. People brainwash you and make you happy all the time and not having your own emotions you can sometimes feel trapped.
