16.1 INTRODUCTIONThe LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen is an electronic display module. It allows you to discover a wide range of applications. An LCD screen is a very basic module. They are very commonly used in different devices and circuits. These modules are preferred over seven segments as well as other multi-segment LEDs. The reasons for this are: LCD screens are very economical; easily programmable; they have no limitation in displaying special characters, animations and many more. The 16*2 LCD screen means it can display 16 characters in one line because there are 2 lines. On the LCD screen, each character is displayed in a 5 x 7 pixel matrix. This LCD screen has two registers, namely Command and Data. A command register stores the command instructions given to the LCD. A command is the instruction given to the LCD screen to perform a predefined task like initialization, clearing the screen, adjusting the cursor position, etc. The data register stores data to be displayed on an LCD screen.
