Many times, people from broken homes and difficult childhoods have found themselves stuck in a dangerous lifestyle. Without the guidance, love, or care of some parental figure, it can be difficult to differentiate good decisions from bad ones. Socioeconomic status and family structure are two key factors that lead to criminal activity, or even starting to commit such acts at a young age (McCord). If parents do not show compassion or respect to their own child, the child may feel distant. They try to get their parents' attention in any way possible, in order to at least make it known that they feel neglected. With less attachment to parents, the child does not know a proper way to be raised nor does he understand his limitations and restrictions in front of the law. Since they have no one to guide them through the early stages of their lives, they must succumb to abominable habits, such as early drinking, smoking, and rebellious attitudes. In some cases, even if a child has both parents, they can learn and engage in criminal behavior by observing their parents' actions (McCord). Parents who negatively influence their child through their own reckless behavior should be held accountable for raising them in such a toxic environment. The child may desire the thrill of shoplifting because
