I will continue by mentioning its current position, what cladding is, I will also give a brief summary of the characteristics of different types of cladding. A diagram will also be presented with the labels of a cladding system attached to a wooden frame building. 1.0 TIMBER FRAME CONSTURCTION IN THE UK In the UK, timber frame construction is based on factory-made structural elements. The wooden frame wall panels support the loads of the building up to the foundations while the exterior cladding provides beautification and protection against bad weather. Now, the type of coating to use depends entirely on the client/builder/architect as it is a matter of choice; this may be brick, stone or lightweight coverings, such as wooden planks, suspended tiles or render. Below you'll see a man attaching slate tiles to a wood frame roof. 3.0 IDEAL WALL COVERINGS The best wall systems are highly resistant to water, wind, mechanical damage and vermin entry. They are reasonably priced, easy to install and require little maintenance, have great aesthetic appeal and provide good security. They also provide thermal insulation and have a long lifespan. Most coatings only do some of these things well. There are no perfect cladding materials.4.0 DIAGRAM OF THE APPEARANCE OF CLADDING ON AN EXTERIOR WALLA Interior plasterboard liningB Vapor controlC Timber frameD Thick CFCE-free insulating quilt Cladding panelF Waterproof breathable membraneG Fastener stainless steel wall H 50 mm transparent wall cavity I Exterior brick cladding (rewarding Learning)
