Essay / Should children always obey their parents? - 705
Have you ever thought about what my parents think, there's no way I'll listen to them? I know I did it and I think you probably should. This is because our parents are not always right. There are always times when your parents are going to mess up, I mean, they're only human. And sometimes you won't want to obey them, even though most of the time you should listen to them. And there are many reasons for this and I'm sure you could come up with more, but here are the ones I got from Romeo and Juliet. There are three main reasons I can think of why you shouldn't obey your parents: if they want you to do something that could harm you, if they ask you to do something that you are incapable of doing , or if they want you to follow a plan or something they want you to do, it's not something that would make you happy. To begin with, the first reason why you shouldn't always obey your parents is if they want you to do something that could harm you or someone else. Some parents encourage their children to do things that are not good, perhaps because that's where they grew up. They may encourage them to bully other children, drink, take drugs, or make other bad choices. In Act III, scene v. page 889, lines 219-225, they don't necessarily want her to do something that is harmful to her, but something that makes her want to harm herself. That's when the nurse tells her that she should marry Paris and forget about Romeo, something her parents agree with, aside from the Romeo thing! “I think it would be better if you married into the county. Oh, he's a charming gentleman! Romeo's dish for him. An eagle, madam. He does not have an eye as green, as lively and as beautiful as that of Paris. Tear my heart. I think you are happy in this second match. Because it surpasses your first. It's Nurse trying... in the middle of a paper... everything about him, the man he chose, the work he did, the thanks he deserves. he doesn't think at all about Juliette, or whether she will be happy in Paris. Which is strange because at the beginning of the play he wants Paris to conquer her so that she can be happy. So that's the final reason why you shouldn't always listen to your parents, is if they want something for themselves and not for you. Clearly, there are three reasons why you shouldn't always listen to your parents. The first is if they want you to do something that could cause harm to you or others. The second is if they ask you to do something that you are literally incapable of doing. And the last one is if they want you to do something that would make them happy, not you. Obviously, there are situations where you should not obey what your parents say.Works CitedThe Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet
