This research will provide evidence that television advertisements influence food preferences and are associated with the growing epidemic of childhood obesity. I will talk about food advertising and its effects on children. Today, food companies make children their main target. A food marketer is interested in young people as consumers because of their purchasing power and influence on their consumption habits. I will discuss the different aspects that food advertisements have on children, as well as the effects of food advertising on health. I will also take different steps to demonstrate different studies to support my topic. The greatest source of media messages is television, and parents' best defense against poor nutrition is to control the power of television. Even though American children are overweight or obese, fast food companies continue to serve unhealthy foods to children. For the most part, foods intended for these children are high in sugar and fat and are not beneficial for their developing bodies. Food advertising companies use creative strategies in food promotion, such as characterization, animation, humor and themes. They focus on using calls and messages that appeal to children. When children see a certain advertisement related to food and play, they absorb it more quickly than we think. A child who spends too much time watching television is more likely to have health problems. Today, one of the main causes of obesity is frequent watching of television, which causes children to become less physically active.
