In the USSR, “Makarenko [an educational leader] believed that the most important educational goal was to integrate people into a collective by teaching them to subordinate their interests personal for the good of the group” (Printemps, 1999). This involves a highly structured educational system in which the good of the group was promoted through targeted social mediums, particularly art, literature, and other forms of entertainment. The Panem Capitol constantly monitors what is broadcast to all citizens. By controlling what is broadcast, President Snow controls the ideas of what is good for the group as well as the thoughts and ideas he wants the citizens to have. President Snow implements certain concepts and ideas into the lives of citizens.
