Essay / Biblical Reflection - 715
But as the archaeologist read the Bible, they began to notice that there were stories about Noah that made it seem like there was more than one writer. And archaeologists were able to prove that the Bible was written by four people instead of just one, but that those people were Israelites. The Bible shows two different stories in two different chapters. For example, in one chapter it says 40 days and 40 nights, but in the next chapter it says 150 days. To see if the flood is over, it was said that Noah sent a dove, but in the next sentence it was stated that Noah sent a raven. Two different stories were put together on two pages of the Bible. Then an ancient alphabet was discovered, dating back to around 1000 BC, which told some of the stories in the Bible. Scholars were searching for the actual language of the Bible. The story of Moses leading the Israelites is found in the Bible, which makes it seem like a poem that makes it ancient with a historical core behind it. Many archaeologists have found writings about an ancient city that was previously in ruins. My understanding of the Bible is not spiritual because the Bible tells the stories of the events experienced by the Israelites. The Bible is not a book that tells you how to live your life. The Bible is based on principles and values, but that does not make it spiritual. The Bible can speak to anyone, whether spiritual or not.
