It can be developed through mindfulness and other reflective practices, which become essential to effective leadership. » Last summer, I was a resident advisor for the General Management Summer Institute. As intimidating and overwhelming as I thought this job was, it was a great learning experience for me. Right after an exhausting and exhilarating first week, all the students surprised me by applauding me for being the best advisor in the program. Not only did it energize me, but it also made me feel more connected to the students. This made me invest more in my work and do even better, which was followed by more praise and recognition not only from students but also from my supervisors. The feeling of being valued and appreciated for all the hard work, even at the expense of sleep, was unprecedented. This Stanford experience, among others, led me to believe that positive encouragement, assessment combined with impactful jobs that tend toward corporate sustainability are the best means to personal fulfillment. We see many high-level executives trying to understand and implement this personal wellness strategy. being aimed at thriving businesses.
