  • Essay / Teleological Process Theory (Planned Change) - 987

In general, leaders must have a clear understanding of the strategic objectives of their various organizations and identify actions to achieve the set objectives. Strategic leadership must be transformational in nature if it aims to serve the organization. In many cases, the type of leadership required to change an organization is transformational, because organizational change requires a lot of energy and commitment to achieve goals. (Bass and Avolio, 1994). According to Hatch (1993), transformational leadership theories hold that change is accomplished through the leader's implementation of a unique vision of the organization through powerful personal characteristics designed to change internal organizational cultural norms . Schein (1986) stated that leadership and organizational culture are widely considered to be linked in the process of change. The author adds that a business leader who encourages continuous learning and embraces change helps define a flexible organizational culture. Rather than being afraid of being condemned for making suggestions, an atmosphere should be created in which staff can express their views, as this has the potential to lead to productivity. Strategic leaders have the skills and knowledge to identify the need for change in the business.
