    A New York Times article written by Ian Lovett and Richard Perez-Pena titled "California Governor Signs Assisted Suicide Bill." California's decision to allow this was Brittany Maynard's case. Last year, she moved from California to Oregon because, being in Oregon, she had the right to die on her own terms, after discovering she had terminal brain cancer. A year later, California decided to allow assisted suicide because of his case. Governor Jerry Brown said: “I don’t know what I would do if I died in excruciating and prolonged suffering,” he wrote. “However, I am certain that it would be a comfort to be able to consider the options offered by this bill. And I would not deny this right to others. (Lovett and Perez-Pena) He wants this to be an option for others and not have to leave the state to grant their wishes. The only doubts about it are that "opponents have long worried that sick and disabled people might be forced to choose death over additional care, which can be costly and burdensome."
