One of the major problems why so many people suffer from mental health is that they do not express their problem. As noted previously, it is difficult in the mental health specialty to recruit more psychiatric nurses due to stigma. Those who suffer from mental illness are not considered human and are isolated from society. People with mental illness are therefore unable to receive the appropriate treatment they need. to help them (Gouthro, 2009, p. 669). To reduce this stigma, education of nurses and the community is necessary. Additional research is needed on mental health to improve the professional practice of nurses entering the mental health field. Improving education and awareness can break down this barrier that prevents people with mental illnesses from opening up and taking psychiatric courses.
