  • Essay / Should you date someone in your league? - 563

Competition is very popular in America, in education, employment and even family; but what about meetings? Dating is one of the most competitive “games” in the world. Dr. Tomas Cvreck spoke about competition and how it affects everything we know. Something as simple as who makes the first move can determine the outcome of the entire relationship as well as the future. Homogamy is everything in a relationship; how old the person is, their level of education, their religion and their annual income. This is an example of why dating someone outside of the league is a risky thing in most cases. People who have a lot in common tend to find someone compatible with themselves. This is why Dr. Cvreck emphasized that dating someone out of your league is a risky move; because it can become more competitive. Although not everyone is competitive, everyone wants to have a happy marriage, but competitiveness is part of human nature and varies between men and women. The feeling of competitiveness is natural, but the intensity of the characteristics depends on how the parents raised their child. If parents are competitive, their children will most likely inherit this trait; because it is a learned characteristic. Regardless, everyone is competing against each other because they are all part of the same dating game and who will end up with who? Men are naturally more competitive than women and tend to favor more attractive women. On the other hand, women look at their appearance; but unlike men, they focus more on the attributes of the person. Men tend to show off their spouse or girlfriend to make other men jealous of what they have "scored", while women want to brag about the nice things their spouse or boyfriend has said or done for She. They participate in the same competition, but it is perceived differently. In this dating game, the competition is truly based on the gender of the person. A popular question is: “Is there a first-time advantage?” » The answer is yes. If women make the first move, they are more likely to get their first choice of man rather than having to be asked to settle down like a man might have to do. Men have the advantage because in our culture men have to make the first move no matter what, but their advantage diminishes as competition increases because all the guys are going after the same "hot" girl »..
