Khedive Ismail Ibrahim Muhammed AliI decided to research about Khedive Ismail because it will be a great opportunity for me to know more about the history of my country which I I know a little about it. This is not closely related to my project. The idea of building a national library in Cairo was ordered by Khedive Ismail with input from Ali Pasha Mubarak. Mohammed Ali came just after the weakening of the Mamluks. They came from the Ottoman Empire, that is to say, Turkey. Khedive Ismail was born at Al Musafir Khana Palace in Cairo. He was the second of three sons of Ibrahim Pasha, grandson of the Albanian general Muhammad Ali, founder of the Egyptian royal dynasty. He was the son of Hoshiar, the third wife of Ibrahim Pasha. She would have been the sister of Valide Sultan Pertevniyal (1812-1883). Pertevniyal was the wife of Mahmud II of the Ottoman Empire and the mother of Abdülaziz I. He was born on December 31, 1830 and died on March 2, 1895 in Istanbul (wikipedia). He studied in Paris and carried out diplomatic missions in Europe before governing. . He went to Constantinople and received the title of Pasha (Larousse). At first he was a member of the Egyptian State Council, then he became the leader of a corps of 14,000 men with the title of general-in-chief of the Egyptian army. In 1855 he served as commissioner to France and the Pope of Rome (The New York Times 1895). Back in Egypt, he became a member of the Council of State and was in charge of the government while Said Pasha visited Asia and Europe in 1861 (Larousse). After the death of Said Pasha in 1863, Ismail became Wali without opposition. He was Wali until 1867 and Khedive from 1867 to 1879 (The New York Times 1895).
