Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" has sparked a lot of controversy over why he chose this as the title of his novel. “The Great Gatsby” demonstrates the deception of how the main character Jay Gatsby showed his greatness by attempting to achieve his goal of Daisy, but failed miserably in his quest to recreate the past and bring about his own death. Gatsby showed his greatness by achieving fame, fortune and trying to conquer Daisy. The extravagant parties and glamorous cars that Gatsby had throughout his life were all intended to impress Daisy and see if she would fall in love with him again.
