The main characters also interacted when Jason was on the ship with his 4 other friends on what seemed like an impossible quest. He always had a smile on his face, and on page 209, Hazel says that Jason was the only reason they could keep going. The main idea developed throughout the text as the 5 friends travel on their ship they learn new information that allows them to realize more things like the goal of the war and the enemy's plans or what they can do to help stop the enemy. This happens on page (245) where they learn that there is something that can get them past the monsters undetected. Then comes the climax where the two groups of main characters meet their destination and face the great challenge that awaits them. After that there is the falling action. In the falling action, the characters come together and are relieved that they have won. Finally, there is the conclusion where they learn their next big quest..
