    When I thought about leaving, I had to stop and remember that I was leaving behind my mother who is a single parent with my younger sister. As an older brother, I had to shoulder many responsibilities while I was still a child. So, while trying to work, I help my family and focus on my studies; As classes became more difficult, I wasn't able to do as well as I thought I could if all I could do was focus on school. My grades weren't as good and I even had to retake some classes. At one point, I felt so discouraged and wanted to give up because I knew how difficult and competitive pharmacy school was. And it is in the institution's best interest to prepare students for success and ensure they can complete the program. I know I'm competent enough even though I had a tough undergrad, I knew I couldn't give up. I felt like if I continued to do my best, good would eventually prevail. During this time, my mother had fallen ill with kidney cancer. I was able to see the importance of drug therapy management and understanding how medications work, which was explained to me by the pharmacist, really gave me hope for my future..
