    The Four Stage Team Performance Model and the Drexler/Sibbet High Performance ModelExploring two models will show an interesting relationship when we compare and contrast them. Both can increase team building skill levels. The models are the Drexler/Sibbet Team Performance Model (human performance strategies) and the Four Stage Team Performance Model (management skills development). When used correctly, they have been shown to improve the efficiency and profitability of organizations. “Developing team skills is important because of the tremendous explosion in the use of teams in work organizations over the past decade (Developing Management Skills). » A review of these models will show the similarities and differences they present in the context of team building. Four-Stage Model “The Forming – Norming – Storming – Performing model of team development was first proposed by Bruce Tuckman in 1965. This model became the basis for later models of team dynamics and theory of management frequently used to describe the behavior of existing teams (Wikipedia). »The first stage of building a team is called the forming stage. “The team meets for the first time and learns about opportunities and challenges, then they agree on goals and start tackling tasks. Team members tend to behave quite independently. They can be motivated but are generally relatively poorly informed about the issues and objectives of the team (Wikipedia). The group has reached the Norming stage as they begin the second stage. “The team must create cohesion and unity, differentiate roles, identify member expectations and strengthen commitment.
