A friendship is something that everyone wants and desires, but what few people don't realize is that there are many different types of friendship and while they can all being great, there is one which is essential to the soul. Before we can have an ideal friendship, we must have a clear understanding of what friendship is. As stated in our course notes, a friendship is a state of mutual affection towards one another. This basically means that you both share similar ideas and/or passions, which leads to a constant environment of each other, which then leads to a connection or friendship. The life cycle of making a friend has three key elements in the formation of making a friend. The first is proximity, that is, being close enough to a person to stay in touch or simply to participate in certain activities together. Then you have to stay in touch with the person again and again. Not so much that you make plans with the person, but simply inform them of daily encounters of life situations, whether good or bad. Last but not least, we have the opportunities stage which is the phase where you plan to spend time, share feelings and be there for each other. A friendship is a necessity; this is where we check in on each other. This is also considered “good friendship”. No one wants to live without friends because we are social beings. A friendship is essential to being self-reliant, which means having all the needs of a friendship met. According to Aristotle, “Even he who has everything still needs friends.” Friendships can be good for many things.
