In today's society, one of the main sociological problems that affect our adolescence is the consumption of alcohol, tobacco and drugs. Adolescence is when we are most vulnerable and is the most difficult time of our lives. There are many theories today as to why young adolescents fall into this trap. Some theories refer to the absence of parents, lack of parental connections, peer pressure, or simply a feeling of wanting to fit in. Other risk factors are socioeconomic status and exposure to drug use. When looking at alcohol, tobacco and drug use, many sociological perspectives such as functionalist, conflict, feminist and interactionist perspectives help to understand the problem at hand and give us different perspectives on the problem. Many studies and statistics are very alarming. In this essay, many results and statistics produced by the studies will be presented. In addition to the problem identified, there are many ways each individual can contribute to ending this problem and raising awareness and prevention in your society. Many theorists believe that if you have the parent-teen bond, the likelihood of teen drug use will be greater. decrease. This assumption makes sense in that if you have a teenager who respects, listens and wants to please their parents, they will be less likely to use alcohol, tobacco or drugs because they know it will disappoint their parents.
