Essay / Theme of Strength and Unity - 1465
Unity is achieved by establishing fear at the origin, but the narrator only uses this point to build a unifying anger. Hunted like pigs, the idea that the blood of the black man is precious, that the executioners are monsters and that the executioners are all cowards, these are words intended to incite the wrath of Ramsey 5 and to unify the black man against his oppressors. The second emotion caused by fear is pride. Pride that the black man now has the opportunity to stand up to his oppressors. The last line is to fight back, and under the unity of anger, the whole can fight back. The fear of extinction is what drove unity. In anger there is also strength, but not physical. Instead, strength lies in standing up to the oppressor in a final battle. If we must die, these words are meant to be the last cry of an oppressed people pushed too far and too close to a meaningless death. In conclusion, all three poems share the same theme throughout. The theme of strength and unity can be seen as a commonality between three different poems. Written by prominent black writers, these poems can be seen as a message to achieve unification through the strength of the black community.
