    The problematic question does not specify whether Roger is a citizen of an EU country or whether he is a British national. Therefore, the answer to my problematic question will only be the assumption that he is a British national. Even if my assumption considers him a British national, in any case the law and rules that apply in the EU are the same for all EU member states. The problematic issues concern the status and rights granted to the migrant national of the European Union in the host State. It concerns the status of worker and family under European Union law as well as the application of the principle of discrimination and the right to equal treatment. Union citizenship was finally formally introduced into the European Union (EU) by the Treaty of Maastricht in 1992 in an effort to bring the Union closer to its citizens. Throughout the problematic issue, it will be examined to what extent the introduction of citizenship into the EU legal framework actually adds concrete rights to EU citizens or whether it has only symbolic importance. Article 20 states that any individual who is a national of an EU member state is also automatically a citizen of the EU. Article 21 grants the right of free movement to all EU citizens within the limits of the Treaty and secondary law. The free movement rights of economically active citizens are well established under Article 45 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU).
