The film develops the main character, Mr. Donnelly, from a person who does not believe in God to the point where he stares at the ceiling while calling out to Jesus after killing David (rabbit pet name). The story opens with Mr. Donnelly talking with the doctor who was contemplating his wife's death. The doctor, in addition to being a serious person, shows humor when he explains how the woman died. He also talks about how busy he is dealing with the woman who was shot and the sudden unexplained death of his son. The character of the doctor is described as calm, friendly and concerned for the well-being of others. All those responsible for the deaths clarified by the doctor, including Mr. Donnelly, board the same train and initiate a dialogue. Convoy, the son of the deceased who happens to be his mother, plays an unusual character who glues people to the screen. Convoy is shown as a person without friends. Profanity is also part of his character since throughout the film, he dialogues in foul language which upset those around him, almost leading to a confrontation where Mr. Donnelly calms the situation. Convoy, a vexatious character, fronts the woman in the film who has just lost a child in order to jump from the train. He believes in the existence of God, unlike Donnelly. He's hilarious in that he thinks old guys are supposed to believe in
