Essay / My personal experience: moving to the United States
I came from a country where people generally don't get along well with each other. Living in Tehran had made me a very rude person. I used to be made fun of by my peers for various reasons. For example, if they made fun of me, then I would make fun of them. Plus, I was kind of a person who looked for trouble. I've always gotten into trouble starting fights. I used to fight a lot. This may sound violent, but where I come from, it was sometimes necessary to defend yourself against others. Moreover, I was an individual who never respected his elders. I was a type of student who would always talk back to his teachers if he was insulted in any way. I could never control my emotions and my anger. Plus, I was a student who always spoke out of turn. I never even bothered to raise my hand when I wanted to express my thoughts. I also stopped my peers from speaking by asking random and irrelevant questions without realizing that they too had the right to speak. However, all that changed when I arrived in the United States. This experience opened my eyes to a different view of the world that I had never had the opportunity to see before. Today, I no longer want to push people's buttons. The thought of hurting people was completely erased from my mind. I always do my best to stay out of trouble. I no longer fight because I have learned to control my emotions and anger so as not to interfere with my decision. I believe
