Essay / Banksy Protest Against the Art Community - 1507
The famous street artist Banksy has gained many followers in the art community of which he himself is an important part. The art community first ridiculed Banksy and now he is receiving praise. However, Banky's art often protests the current culture in the art community of spending large sums of money purchasing art from people who have undergone extensive training at expensive schools. Banksy, a special case, was able to rise among the best street artists like Shepard Fairey without any real training or artistic education. The artistic community deprives the rest of the world of ideas that could change the way everyone thinks or acts, for the sole reason that an artist is not qualified to exhibit their art anywhere it will be recognized. Banky's dismay for the art world is recognized through his art and he calls for a change in the art community to be more receptive to young artists. Firstly, according to Will Ellsworth-Jones, Banksy is a Brit from Bristol, where he learned the art of stenciling as opposed to spray painting which allows him to construct much more complex paintings much more quickly. Once Banksy started stenciling, his popularity began to climb. He managed to drag many of Banksy's highly recognized early pieces onto museum walls. Banksy managed to install his own interpretation of the Mona Lisa in the Louvre. The woman had a smiling face plastered on his. The Mona Lisa is the most iconic and well-known work of art and Banksy desecrated it in his own home. Banksy entered the Louvre by hiding a painting, which he then placed on a wall. The painting was a copy of the Mona Lisa with a smiling face plastered on the woman's face. Banksy is quoted as saying, "having to go through the process of having a pai...... middle of paper ...... y" the intentions of the initiator, this fact can bring unforeseen benefits to artists in development, Banksy protested. For. Any artist could use the notoriety that Banksy's signature currently enjoys to capture tours of his art without museums or art exhibitions. The fact that there is a possibility that the graffiti is a Banksy would result in people flocking in hordes to adorn the possible Banksy. The authenticity of the work would be hard to question if it is quality work by Banksy, assuming the real Banksy makes no claims regarding the creation of this piece. I don't see why this would happen if the work is on par with Banksy's, since he is protesting for the unknown artist, unless Banksy wants to give credit where credit is deserved, so that artist gets a positive review of Banksy giving him an "in" in the art community and opportunity for further success.
