First, I believe that to be a great nurse is to be a caring nurse. This is why I chose Jean Waston's nursing theory because Watson's theory contains a holistic approach to patient care and focuses on the bond between the patient and nurse (Crisp and Taylor, 2005). According to Waston's theory, this includes rationality and the study of care; caregiving is an interpersonal procedure containing interventions that result in meeting human needs (Crisp & Taylor, 2005 p.69). From my point of view, the demonstration of my words "caring" and "knowledgeable" is closely related to the reason that it includes both the patient and myself. If I have knowledge and kindness towards my patients, a close bond will be established. As a result, this allows for better understanding between my patients and myself as a nurse, as intra-expert communication is crucial to providing the patient with the best possible care.
