    Lady Macbeth is the only reason why Macbeth acts according to the strange sister's prophecies. Before even speaking to him, Lady Macbeth swore that her husband would take the king's place by murdering his lord and kinsman. It is his decision for Macbeth to take power, not his, and his plans mean the end of Duncan. Lady Macbeth is in charge from her first introduction; Macbeth himself is just a tool in his hands. Lady Macbeth feels that she must take control, because her husband will never take the necessary action. Macbeth is “too full of the milk of human kindness to find the nearest way (1.5.17-19). » Lady Macbeth knows her husband too well to imagine that he would willingly agree to assassinate his king, so she makes the plans herself. While this doesn't excuse Macbeth's actions (he still killed the king), it can excuse his motivations. When Macbeth is finally submitted to Lady Macbeth's care, her every word is intended to convince him to follow her plan: “Hello, come here. So that I can pour my spirit into your ear and chastise with the valor of my tongue everything that prevents you from accessing the golden round with which destiny and metaphysical help seem to have crowned you. (1.5.26-31).” Lady Macbeth curses her husband for his gentle and trustworthy nature and ultimately succeeds in turning him to her cause.
