Essay / Same-sex marriage should not be legal - 1630
According to Christian belief, at first God made Adam a man, then Eve a woman. He gave Adam a woman, not a man, so that the human race could sustain itself. For thousands of years, homosexuality has been a sin or bad behavior in many, if not all, religions. We are continually confronted with this controversial topic and have now reached a time where homosexuality is more open and more widely accepted than it has ever been. Today, gay men and women are fighting for the right to marry. In Christianity, marriage is a lifelong commitment under God. Many Christians are well aware that practicing homosexuality is a major sin. How can a union created for man and woman, under God, bind two partners of the same sex if it is declared in God's book to be morally wrong? Homosexuals should be allowed to make a lifelong commitment to their partner, but it should be called something other than marriage and should not be subject to God. The biggest problem the gay population faces when it comes to legal marriage is Christians. A true Christian doesn't want a married gay couple to have the same title as him and his wife, because they take the vowel under god seriously. A convinced believer would say that same-sex marriage is absurd. Homosexuality is unnatural because we were given sexual organs for the purpose of reproduction and not pleasure. It is believed that homosexuals will be abandoned for committing abominable acts and, through some misinterpretations, also deserve death. When gay pride marches take place, some Christians protest in the name of Jesus. The story of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible is filled with vivid images of the destruction of the cities, primarily due to the over-indulgence of ... middle of paper ... age and of a different name. They would both be different, but mean the same thing. In the land of the free, we cannot deny anyone the freedom to proclaim their love at any time. Because true Christians know it's all about love. Love of God, love of self and love of each other. When it comes to this, we shouldn't judge each other, just let a higher power decide. Many people's religions do not allow any attachment to same-sex marriage, but perhaps we can come to an agreement. Most Americans do not believe same-sex marriage is acceptable and would probably feel more comfortable if gay people could have a different ceremony and marriage license. Every man is responsible for himself, so don't worry if gays are doomed to hell, let God be the judge. But there should be no spiritual marriage and sacred marriage like that between a man and a woman..
