Many of today's popular music artists are admired for their songs, style and personality. People in today's society can be easily influenced and many have role models that they admire and aspire to. A role model has qualities that affect young children but also adults and which can lead to positive or negative influences. This can be somewhat dangerous considering the model people choose. While it can be something innocent, like singing songs or dressing in a certain style, it can also be something negative, like bad behavior, drugs, abuse, and violence. Certain parts of society, mainly fans, tolerate all types of behavior from their favorite artists, whether good or bad. This has a potentially negative effect on people. Most young children have their favorite musical artists that they look up to, but some of their role models have significantly changed their style without losing fans. For example, Miley Cyrus had a TV show called “Hannah Montana” on Disney Channel. She sang beautiful songs and had fun with her friends on the show and also gave concerts in real life which many young girls went to. Miley Cyrus and her alter ego Hannah Montana had no negative influence on these young girls. Many of his songs were positively geared towards life lessons and how one learns from them. All of a sudden, Miley Cyrus completely changed her style, shaving part of her head and wearing racy clothes. His new songs are more about drinking, partying and rebelling against society. Not only does this show bad behavior, but it shows his young fans that acting this way is acceptable. Many of her younger fans still look up to her, leading them to poor life decisions like Cyrus herself, acting like... middle of paper ...... artists can also become extreme, as does rap artist Rick.
