Todd is an assistant professor. He received his Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Northwestern University, 2009. His research interest is social cognition (Social Psychology Network., nd). Social cognition is described as what people pay attention to and how they interpret, use, store, and retrieve information (PSY 530 Lecture1, 2016). In his study, he evokes the stereotype of black men in the United States. How they are considered dangerous and threatening. Many stereotypes come from the media or another source, but how strong are these stereotypes? The study included 24 students; each participant saw 12 photographs of white men and 12 photographs of black men. In some photos the gaze direction was direct and in others the gaze direction was reversed.
