Essay / 1984 by George Orwell - 1312
Curiosity and anticipationAfter reading the summary of the novel, the first thing that interested me was the dystopian society in which the story took place. I wanted to know what the conditions were in which people lived and what power the government had over these people. I wanted to know what kind of society the author George Orwell was trying to warn readers about and why. I was also eager to find out how the novel's protagonist, Winston Smith, would rebel against them to gain freedom and who would join forces with him. After reading the first quarter of the novel, I was surprised by the power of power. the government exercised over the population, as well as the surveillance system and strict rules it put in place to prevent any type of act of rebellion. I was afraid to even imagine if I lived in a society like that where I would be forced to always agree with the ruling party and be monitored 24/7. This quarter of the book led me to two big questions: why does the government want all this control over people, and does the Brotherhood really exist and if it does, will they be able to fight Big Brother? I'm excited to find this out and I anticipate that Winston will find the Brotherhood and team up with them to fight Big Brother, but I don't think they will be able to overthrow Big Brother because that party controls the minds of so many people. and therefore, they can easily use these brainwashed people to destroy the Brotherhood. Some other questions that I'm very interested in are how his mother died and is the party involved in any way, is O'Brien really on Winston's side and the dark haired girl Winston spies. I think O'Brien is on Winston's side and they are both going to join in middle of paper... now that he has realized there is no way to undo what has been done , he decides. to continue his acts of rebellion against the party by continuing to write his diary and having sexual relations with a prostitute, which is illegal. The party, on the other hand, tries to prevent any acts of rebellion in the future by brainwashing people with frequent videos or information about their enemies, altering history so that it always works in their favor , by constantly monitoring or spying on people and by having a thought police that stops a potential threat to society before it grows and becomes an even bigger threat. Winston fights for his freedom and the Big Brother party fights against freedom. The purpose of this novel is to show what a totalitarian society can cause to people and in what state people have to live if a totalitarian system is actually implemented..
