A veterinary technician (vet tech) can have a difficult life when their job involves saving animals. Whatever the job, it takes education, commitment, passion and love for animals. Being able to work and handle animals is a dream come true; it allows people to see what an animal could do for its owner. Maintaining research work on certain diseases and fractures allows a veterinary technician to help animals in need. This helps bridge the gap between the environment and animal-loving families around the world. A veterinary technician can work in different work environments, such as veterinary hospitals and private clinics. Working in a variety of environments creates skillful tasks including: laboratory work, radiology, nursing, surgery, x-rays, and assisting veterinarians with surgeries (Money Careers). Each of these tasks requires its own abilities to help animals in need, for example: laboratory work involves collecting tissue, blood and urine samples, nursing involves caring for animals after operations surgical procedures and to check their reaction to the procedure (U.S. Bureau of Labor). Whitney McCullough (a veterinary technician from Arcola, Illinois) answers questions using her knowledge of what life is like as a veterinary technician. What kind of tasks do veterinary technicians perform on the job every day? “It depends on where people usually work, but workers come to check on hospitalized animals that need extra care. Then, somehow, workers have checklists for each hospitalized animal, so that if they need medications, bandage changes, etc., workers can then follow more easily . Then, workers administer medications to all animals housed at the clinic in kennels. After that, they register the animals that come for surgery or for examination...... middle of paper ...... they enjoy being with and helping the animals. Works Cited McHugh, Mary.
