The Women's Suffrage Movement was and continues to be one of the most incredible events in American history. It was a struggle by women to gain their right to vote and run for office. In the United States, women did not have the right to vote until the 19th century. In addition to the struggle of many individuals, women's suffrage was very difficult to obtain. It was not until August 1920 that women were not granted the right to vote nationally. These women's rights affected federal government elections and became an important factor in the decision of national leaders.
