    The power of destiny in Oedipus RexOedipus, the tragic hero of Sophocles' Oedipus the King, is a complex character who, through a slow coming to terms with conscience, learns that one cannot escape destiny. Throughout the tragedy, Oedipus' attitude evolves from arrogance to humility as he learns to seek the truth and discovers that fate is impossible to control.
