    Filled with pale green shoots and newborn animals, the majority of people associate spring with the arrival of summer. However, the narrator remains optimistic. She does not see spring as a sign of summer, but rather as a continuation of winter. She can never allow herself to relax because the fear of a late winter frost scares her too much. This becomes quite a paradox.
