Based on research, one might believe that Nixon had the most effective Cold War policies because he attacked Cold War problems with different policies or actions that other presidents did not attempt to implemented. Richard Nixon was the thirty-seventh president of America. The United States took office on January 20, 1969 and ended on August 9, 1974. Before becoming president, he served as a Republican United States Representative and Senator from California. After serving as a senator, he became the 36th vice president of the United States. He ran first against Kennedy for president and lost. However, through the Alger Hiss affair, he gained his reputation as a leading anti-communist and eventually won the 1968 elections.
