  • Essay / Breading in Pastry: A Brief History of Baking - 2114

Birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions called for treating yourself to something this delicious. My first memory of eating something sweet would be banana pudding. My father loved banana pudding. Her mother made this pudding on special occasions. I don't remember ever eating her pudding, but I certainly remember eating my mother's. Over the years, my mother developed the perfect pudding recipe for my father. Through trial and error, it was in frantic haste that she tried the recipe at the bottom of a box. This box consisted of vanilla wafers that my grandmother used in my father's pudding. After making this recipe, my father shouts that's it, it's the recipe that reminds me of the recipes from my childhood. Since that day, my mother has been making this banana pudding. Of course I was too young to realize what was happening, my mother told my son and I the story of banana pudding for many years.
