Essay / A knight cracked the code - 722
In life we have many choices. Some choices may be more difficult than others. Sometimes as human beings we make the wrong choice, but there are also times when our choice is the right or best one. Talking about choices, the choices we make can affect our whole life as a whole or just affect a small aspect of our life. Of course, choices also come with consequences if the wrong decision is made. This can sometimes reshape our entire life and turn it upside down. Sometimes these consequences can be severe sanctions, such as a prison sentence. Through these consequences, however difficult they may be to overcome, a lesson can almost always be taught. In The Wife of Bath's Tale by Geoffrey Chaucer, a knight who raped a woman and will now suffer consequences such as death. He escapes these consequences with the Queen's order to find out what most women want in life, of course. The Knight thinks he is off the hook, but some would say his punishment has only just begun. The Knight committed a terrible crime by raping a woman and he did not receive the punishment he deserved according to what happened at the end of the story, the choice he had was very interesting and the Knight understands the nature of women. To begin with, the final choice that the old lady gives to the Knight is a very interesting choice, especially after her conference. At the end of the story, the knight is faced with the choice: either have a wife who is ugly and old but beautiful on the inside, or have a beautiful, young woman on the outside and ugly on the inside. The question is a very intriguing one, especially considering first how the Knight had treated her and what kind of lecture she had given him before asking him this question...... in the middle of a leaf......she responded in full measure With everything that can delight or please him. Basically, the knight had a wife and wife who were beautiful inside and out. He was never really punished as he should have been for raping that woman. In a way, this seems to make fun of rape, because solving a stupid question could give a man a beautiful wife and his way out of a crime he's committed. He should have been killed at the very beginning of the story. In conclusion, the knight basically does everything he could have wanted in life. He cracked the women's code, but not alone, although that makes him wiser than most men who still don't understand it to this day. The knight should have been sentenced to death from the start and no, in fact he did not receive the punishment he deserved, his crime was very horrible.
