Essay / Rainbow Eyes - 1634
Brook was born with something very different from everyone else, her family loved and adored her for her extraordinary difference, she is the jewel of her family. Brook has rainbow eyes, no one knows her exceptional secret, she is able to hide it with contact lenses and her favorite pair of sunglasses. Brook lives on the beach in Florida, the perfect place to wear sunglasses all year round and loves the sun. She usually doesn't go out with her friends on the weekends until the first day of school when she meets a girl she thought she could trust, but who quickly turns out to be her worst enemy. Summer is finally over and school is starting; I'm not nervous at all. I wake up, get ready for school, put in my contact lenses and put on my favorite sunglasses; normal routine. When I get to school, I go to the office to get my schedule and hurry to get to my first class. I look around to see all the familiar, nervous faces, some were reading, others were talking. I sat and ignored them all, reading my schedule over and over to memorize it. Then a new girl comes and sits in the empty seat next to me. “Hi,” she said in a cheerful voice. “Hi,” I replied. She wore bright summer colors and had curly blonde hair. I was focused on the color of his eyes, which I seem to do with everyone. She started asking me a bunch of questions about the school and Florida since she was new to the state. Then she asks me my schedule to see if we had the same classes. We had the same lunch. “I love your eyes, they’re so blue!” she told me that it wasn't the first time either.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~We were at my house Friday night eating pizza and watching movies like always. It's...in the middle of a sheet......I'll just tell myself to go back and lie down. I went and sat at the top of the stairs and listened. “Now let’s return to our special report, which is blowing up around the world, ‘The Girl with the Rainbow Eyes.’” announced the journalist. I could just imagine what was happening in front of the television. My mother sitting so close to the TV with her mouth wide open. I continued to listen and now I knew there was a picture of me in the corner and with Hailey's quotes. Soon they were going to play the reporter's video at home, with me and Hailey standing at the door. After the report finished, I heard my mother coming around the corner. I got up and ran to my bed. I hear her coming up the stairs and then she comes into my room. “Brook, how did people find out about your eyes and how did you get on the news?” my mother asked. “Hailey” I shouted.
