Essay / Apartheid and Separate Development - 1352
As the title suggests, this essay is an explanation of the event of apartheid and separate development, but to fully understand this, a brief history of apartheid is necessary, this paragraph will therefore be the introduction to the events that occurred before the formation of Separate Development. The idea of apartheid arose because white supremacy was already embedded in South African politics due to strong European influence. However, it was the Land Act of 1913 that ignited the momentum for apartheid. This forced Africans to live on plots of land that were undesirable and less than twenty percent of the total land area, even though they were clearly in the majority, where eighty percent was given to the white minority. Eventually, restrictions worsened, requiring Africans to carry identification documents authorizing their presence in areas that were otherwise restricted, not allowing non-whites to obtain certain jobs, allowing no contact between whites and non-whites, and ultimately prohibiting the participation of non-whites. non-whites in government. The following paragraphs describe the emergence of separate development, who was responsible for it, what separate development is, and why it occurred. The separate development was the segregation, avoidance and harassment of non-whites in South Africa. This originally arose from a fear of Africans and the abundance of cheap labor they held. Black people in South Africa became able to access skilled jobs and management positions in the mining sector at a much lower cost. Mining companies quickly realized this and started using it. They hired blacks rather than whites because whites demanded much higher out-of-pocket costs than Africans. Afterwards, corporations were in the middle of paper, but it eventually morphed into the perverse form of what was essentially racist socialism that we know today. Those who started it were jealous whites and those who tried to stop it (at least initially) were the mine administrators whose only motivation was their greed. At that time, black people were mostly left to their own devices. No one was on their side and no one would be for years. Hopefully, future governments and corporations of all political colors and backgrounds can learn from this horrible event and not make the same mistake with anyone, no matter who they are.
