Philosophy of EducationRecounting the reasons why I became a teacher was not a very difficult task for me; To accomplish this task, I simply needed to reflect on and describe some of my own personal experiences. I relied primarily on my memories and reflections on my own educational experiences. However, describing my philosophy of education was a much more difficult task for me to accomplish. First, before I could properly describe my philosophy, I realized that I needed a working definition of the concept of philosophy. My search for this working definition of the term philosophy led to further research that provided insight into the views of various well-known philosophers; which we discussed in class. Therefore, the aim of my research became twofold, the first objective being to obtain a practical definition of the concept of philosophy. The second goal was to familiarize myself with some of the ideas of some well-known philosophers, which would help me compare my own lines of thought with some of their views and conceptualize my own philosophy of teaching. As I said before, my reasons for becoming a teacher were easy to identify and describe. First of all, I have always really enjoyed being with children of all ages and I see teaching as the profession that will allow me to do something that I really enjoy. Second, I am also convinced that to be successful in teaching in any discipline, one must have an interest in and master the content of the discipline. I believe that developing their strengths and strategies to overcome their weaknesses will allow my students to develop self-knowledge and confidence in their own abilities, which will encourage them to make good choices throughout their lives. I will endeavor to put this into practice. the philosophy stated above throughout my teaching career and creating reduced risk environments as well as assignments like this. This assignment encouraged me to think more deeply and connect with the thoughts of others and I have always found that assignments that encourage deeper thinking help me further develop my self-knowledge. Finally, I will always emphasize the importance of education and encourage its pursuit as a valuable lifelong mission for all..
