Ryan ReichowMrs. LasirschFrench May 108, 2014Year-round schoolShould school move from traditional to year-round school? Or would year-round school have a negative effect on American students? Surprisingly, many well-educated countries around the world actually go to school all year round and among the countries that go to school all year round, they far surpass America in education. In terms of education, America falls far short, barely comparable to other countries like China and Canada. In order to improve its education system, America should evolve its school system to a year-round system, to maximize the education of students and the future of America. If America were to make these changes, it would result in drastic changes in its educational growth. These changes would bring America to the top, which could lead to many different things, like a better economy, run by more educated Americans. These Americans could offer more information in many ways, such as running more successful businesses or perhaps other beneficial jobs to contribute to our economic growth. The first reason why year-round school would benefit America is that students would have more consistent memories. If students were in school year-round, it would help them remember information from school in the long run and teachers would not have to waste classroom time re-teaching what students should already know. The process of re-teaching teachers at the beginning of the year can last from a few weeks to more than a month, depending on the complexity of the subject, which represents a lot of wasted time; compared to a year-round school, students would not need to relearn anything and they would be read... in the middle of a sheet... and the school can benefit the students and the American people. It redistributes summer throughout the school year so students get more frequent breaks and helps prevent learning loss during the summer. Additionally, it also provides students with more convenient vacation opportunities that can help them save money. Year-round school also allows students to settle into the rhythm of a normal life once they are outside of school. On top of that, year-round school provides students with more frequent breaks, meaning they will have more breaks to refresh and escape the overwhelming daily stress of school. These are just a few of the many advantages of year-round schooling over traditional American schools and many of these statements contain compelling facts that should not be overlooked so easily and perhaps even have changed your opinion about school all year..
